2004...F225 wiring

I have a new to me F225 I have had it all serviced and I did the install. All seems to be working but, (there is always a but) the oil gauge and temp??

I have both the digital gauges, are they just lights that no come on unless there is a problem or do they show something all the time??

I have a few plugs left over in the wire harness but they all seemed to be pluged off like they have never been used?? Are the wires for these two things in the main wire harness?

The lights will come on when first turn key on then go out and wont come back on unless there is an overheat or low oil pressure problem. There should be a harness connected to tach that has a off white colored square connector on it and it goes back to engine and plugs into off white colored connector on engine.
