75 Yamaha Charging System

I have a 98 model 75hp Yamaha. I'm reading about 12.2 volts at the battery with the engine off, and 11.8 volts with the engine running. Shouldn't I be reading around 13 volts with the engine running? Any suggestions on self diagnostics/repair before I take it to the dealer? Where are the rectifier and regulator located on the motor.

To test charge voltage at battery, connect voltmeter to battery and voltage will slowly increase as engine is running to 12 volts or above if alternator system is working properly.
