I have a 2001 25hp 4-stroke with 145 hours on it. I took it out for the first run of season and after about 10 minutes of smooth running the engine quit. It is now difficult to start and runs rough at idle and eventually dies. The engine will run with increased throttle but there is a definite gasoline odor and increased exhaust. I have changed the gas and the fuel filter and checked the plugs. I believe this may be a carburation problem like a float sticking or clogged jets.
Is there a carburator cleaner that you would recommend that can be run through the system or should the carburator be removed and cleaned?
I guess electrical is still a possibilty, but I have no way to test.
Thanks
