  • 2004 F150 over voltage problem

I think I may have an over voltage problem. My engine mounted on a Cobia 214 is putting out about 14.4 volts at low rpm (>1800 rpm) and up to 14.7 volts at cruise rpm (3500 to 4300 rpm). My GPS and bottom machine are also showing 14.7 volts and the newly installed West Marine DSC VHF650 keeps beeping with a "BATTERY OVER VOLTAGE" message. Both deep cycle and starting batteries are brand new. Has anyone experience this issue with this model engine? If so what was the problem? Thanks for any and all help you can provide.

Batteries should be lead-acid type starting batteries(minimum 512 cold cranking amps with 182 minutes of reserve capacity) and not sealed maintenance or Gel Cell battery. Make sure battery cable connections are clean and tight(use self locking nuts on battery post, not wing nuts) at battery post and on engine.
