  • F60TLRA oil leak

I changed the oil and filter in my 2002 F60TLRA and refilled with 2.3 US quarts as stated in the owners manual. Took the boat out an ran it and when I returned the bottom cowling had oil in it. Checked the oil level and it was right on the the full mark. I have had this problem before with oil changes but not to this degree. What I am wondering is 2.3 quarts too much and the manual is wrong? And where does oil escape from the engine when overfilled? Could I have blown out a seal somewhere? Don't know if I have damaged anything, but the engine runs great.

The manual list oil capacity with engine dry, when changing oil there will still be some oil left in engine, should only add about 1 1/2 quarts of oil and check oil level on dipstick(if oil level is between lower and upper line the consider it full of oil) and add more if needed. If overfull it will blow oil out of crankcase vent into engine compartment.
