When I take off half the time the boat does real good , and all of a sudden the motor starts to die out, almost like it is out of gas. It sometimes will set all the way down. I can also pump the gas a lot and it will take back off. Even running wide open sometimes it will just start bogging down. I run ring free in the gas , and cleaned the oxigen sensor. I need to know where to start.

Probably bad fuel pumps, air leak in fuel hoses or restriction in fuel hoses. Check diaphrams in fuel pumps and fuel hoses.

I took the diaphrams to a parts store. They said that they looked good but I replaced 2 of them anyway. Put back together ,run boat and it did the same thing. When you try to take off it will bog down. If you are running hard and let off it will do the same, Bog down. There was no ball and spring in the fuel line going to the fuel pumps. Is there a test I can run to see if the pumps are bad. What else could it be ??????

I changed the fuel pumps, I also changed the primer bulb, I also blew the line from the bulb to the tank to make sure it was not stopped up. Still doing the same thing. Takes off and if you let off the gas at all it will bog all the way down. You can stop it a little bit if you pump the gas, But dont help very much?????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????

what do you mean by if you pump the gas? are you talking about the primer bulb or the throttle?
Has this motor been serviced like the manual says to?
Has any of the filters and screens been changed or cleaned?

Read this on testing fuel supply systems or do like Just-in-time said and try a portable tank to eliminate the installed lines and tank, but will not tell you if it is sucking air.

Boat is at dealership. Is not a fuel issue. It is Electrical, Never seen before . I think the mechanic told me that all cylinders fired at one time, and thats why it bogged down. Looking for answers, and running electrical tests today. Anyone ever had this problem.

If all cylinders fired at once it would not run.
              Is it a Yamaha dealer?

I missunderstood the mechanic. He told me that it is in the Electrical, Ignition, or Injectors, Dont quite know yet. Still doing electrical test. And yes it is at a yamaha dealership. He has called around and nobody has ever heard of this problem.

It's a diagnostic tester that will tell you if any fault codes are present.
It's part number YB-06795 and would have to special ordered from boats.net.
Would also need the service manual for code list and test procedures.

OK guys, the boat has been at dealership for almost 3 weeks. Im getting realy pissed. They said no fuel issues, they said nothing showing up on electrical test. All codes are normal. Powerhead gasket was leaking so we replaced it. Was told it very well could be the exaust manifold gaskets melted, so we replaced them. Now if you trim up a little on take off it will die out, also if you give it gas in a turn it will die out. No mechanic in Nashville has ever had this happen. No one in Nashville knows how to fix it. May not ever own another Yamaha. This is a Yahama dealer. A Yamaha tech. from Yamaha is supposed to look at it Thursday or Friday March 18 or 19. Has anyone ever had this problem.

Well i see that nobody would commet on last post. I went got boat from dealer, and it wont even start or hit at all now. It is at another Dealer to see what they know. Last dealer told me they called yamaha, but yamaha has no record of them calling at all. When all is said and done I will post the dealers name.

Thanks for posting Just-in-time. My problem with Yamaha is that some or most of the mechanics that i have dealt with are not smart enough to even begin to fix the problem, and are at Dealerships. It will be very hard for me to buy another Yamaha product, and I own four now. But thanks for the info. I will post and let you know if i ever find out what it is.

Intermittent problems are some of the hardest to find, you need to be looking at the proper things while the problem shows up. If they are not test running the boat and having it act up on them then it is just a guessing ****.

If it will not fire up at all now, it should be fairly easy to find out why.

Good luck on the new shop.
