TACH Problem - 2004 90 TLRC

My analog Faria tachometer is not working. How do you check to see
if the tach is bad or if there is no signal? Can you use a V.O.M. or
do you need an O'Scope? Any wiring diagrams available/

Remove, check, clean all wires/connections and fuse to the back of tachometer, they're very sensitive to moisture/corrosion, etc. Try moving back and forth the small slot head screw/switch on back of tachometer to be sure those internal contacts are O.K. Check your original setting of that screw so you can be sure to put it back to original after you move it. My tachometer used to get moisture/fog inside the glass dial and the unit finally died and I had to replace it with a more "waterproof" model. Good Luck!

Thanks a lot for the reply and help.
Had a good 12 volt supply and a good signal voltage on
the gray signal lead. Tach appeared to be dead. Bought
a 7K RPM Faria on EBay.

Thanks very much for the information on tachometer
trouble shooting. All systems indicated a bad tach.
Down loaded the PDF and filed it. Bought a replacement
on EBay.
