Throttle control sensor adjustment

I purchased a new throttle control sensor from a yamaha dealer.
part number online is 61A-85885-00-00 new number is 6X2-85885-10.
after installation of new sensor voltmeter readings are -3.4, book says needs to be 0.49-0.51. when I connected the old sensor it came up at 0.49 and when reconnected new sensor -3.4 again. Does the new sensor require connection of voltmeter to different leads. book says positive voltmeter lead to pink wire and negative to orange wire.

Sometimes the wire colors on TPS are different positions in connector. Make sure you are using red and orange wires on engine side of connector.
