Hello. I recently purchased a 1991 Sweetwater pontoon with a Yamaha 40PLRP outboard and a 703 remote control box. The boat has no instrumentation onboard, so I purchased a Yamaha Pro series tach with the oil lamp (6Y5-83540-05-00), because it is very difficult to see the oil lamp on the front of the motor. It is very important, for a few of the people who will be piloting this boat, to see such a vital indicator. After looking more closely at the owner's manual and the Clymer service manual, it appears that there IS NOT a 4-pin connector on the motor that would connect, through an extension, to the tach oil lamp. (I should mention that I am 100 miles from the boat at this time.) My question is, is there an adaptor available that would allow me to make this connection, or will I be advertising the sale of a brand new analog tach with oil lamp?
Along these same lines, can I install a tilt sensor and guage for this motor?
Thanks for your help. There is lots of great information.
