Fuel/oil ratio

Hi guys,

I have a second hand 1994 longshaft yamaha 6 hp outboard. I know it says 100:1 fuel /oil mix where you plug the fuel line in to the motor but a lot of manufactureres advised people to go back to 50:1 years later. Is this the case here. What ratio should I use. 50:1 seems a bit smoky on this motor compared to my evenrude at 50:1.

It is 100:1 ratio, Yamaha has always used 100:1 on small motors and still do.
