I have a 1994 Yamaha 200 TXRX Was running around 1800 rpm no matter where throttle was positioned. Was told that its caled "safe mode"?? Was also told that it was caused by a bad thermosensor, any ideas? Motor ran great up til now.

If in safe mode the alarm should have sounded and if have Yamaha tach then warning will come on. The alarm system will activate if engine overheats or if oil level in engine oil tank is low(at bottom line on engine oil tank)
Check to see if buzzer works, remove landyard cord and try to start motor, buzzer should sound.
Check oil level in both oil tanks, if not low may need to test oil level sensors and wiring.
Check to see if engine is overheating, may need new water pump.
