  • What's next - 2 stroke 150 txr

    I have a 2002 150hp 2stroke TXRA on a 21' CC

I installed a yamaha 10 micron fuel/water seperator in April 2009. I used the boat 2-3 times in May and then 1 time mid june. Filled the boat up with fuel (80 gallons) and added the correct amount of startron fuel stabilizer.

Went on vacation july and august, then got busy with kids soccer etc in the fall. Now started using the boat again.

1st trip 2 weeks ago.... rough idle, ran about 20 miles could not go over 2500-3000 rpms. If i pushed the throttle beyond this, the motor would cut out and lose power. Even at 2500-3000 rpms it will cut and intermitantly every 30 secs or so.

Took it home, replaced fuel water seperator.

2nd trip, last saturday. Situation improved but now can not go over 4000 rpms (30mph). Cuts out much less frequently. Prevoius wide open RPM was at 5400 rpms. Now when I push the throttle beyond 4000 rpms, it will go all the way to wide open, but the rpms stay at 4000 rpms.

So what is the next step. I still have about 50 gallons of fuel in there.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Sure sounds like crap in the gas.Disconnect line at the motor and pump some into a glass jar and see what you've got.Pump W/the primer bulb and a small screwdriver stuck in the disconected fuel line check ball.Might be time to remove the 10micron and drain that for a looksee.

I would checks the carbs. Had similar problem with my Rude 140 only to find out I had a piece of shaving that was blocking the main on one carb. I run a racor and a inline. Could have a sticking jet problems too. How I found mine was to run boat without the air silencer/air cover and when I hit the throtle lever I could see only 3 of the 4 were getting good flow. Hope this helps.
