1985 Yamaha 70hp

Just picked up a boat with an 85 70 horse two stroke. It doesn't want to idle properly. It fires up and by playing with the high idle I can keep it running but its not consistant and rps are all over the place. I'm not too familiar with these outboards is there any thing I should know before tearing into the carbs? Also what is the setting for the pilot screws? Any help or info would be appreciated.

Probably needs carbs cleaned, run a compression test.

It turns out that the throttle needed to be adjusted because the butterfly wasn't closing completely.
