you can if you want your motor to seize-up; fuel is injected directly (i.e. H=hight P=press D=direct I=injection) into the cylinder so your crank won't be lubed among other things.
Sorry CO I wasn't sure how these motors worked. I just searched the HPDI and there are a considerable amount of posts relating to problems with oil injection. Currently have an 150 OX66 that I premix based on information I've read on this forum. It appears that engine will last forever but a problem with the oil pump may blow it up. So I disconnected the oil pump. With that said, let me ask this question: I'm upgrading and looking at boats with 225 OX66's and 200 HPDI. What motor would be the better choice?
