C40TLRX CDI part # question

Has the part #63d 85540 00 00 for the 1999 C40TLRX been replaced with
part#63d 85540 04 00.
Some part web sites show it as the replacement part for the 00,01,02,& 03 numbers but some do not.
As they replace one for another through the years are they upgrading and improving them, hence the new number, but they will be a direct replacement without having to modify wiring or anything else?

Yes 63D-85540-00-00 did supersede to 63D-85540-04-00 and it will work without any other changes to motor or wiring.

I take it you meant 63D-85540-00-00 did supersede to 63D-85540-04-00 instead of 63D-85540-00-00 did supersede to 63D-85540-00-00
