I have recently had my starboard 1998- 225 rebuilt- new crank, pistons, etc.
I am currently "breaking in" this rebuild ( 10 hours w/double oil) .
This engine will not rev up beyond 4400 rpms. Prior to rebuild, both engines would run up to 5000 rpm @ wot.
I have replaced all the fuel filters and the low pressure fuel pumps, but this motor still will not produce full rpms.
This motor also shows accessive fuel consumption on the fuel gauge.(almost double the port engine)
I am not sure if this is an instrument error of this engine is actually burning this much fuel.
I have change plugs twice during this break-in.
The rebuilt motor seems to be running fine at all rpms but will not rev up @ wot.?
Does anyone know if this excessive fuel consumption is related to this problem?
Does the double oil have any effect on this lack of rpms @ wot?
Any thoughts are appreciated!!
