  • Oil injection hoses

I have a 1991 Pro V 150 that has 300 hrs on motor. Today I performed a visual inspection of all the hoses and likage. Ordered a joint link that was cracked and noticed that all the hoses are the clear plastic type. My question is, should these be replaced ? My hoses are hard to the feel and I don't want to have any split on me or are these clear plastic type not flexible or soft like the rubber hose. Are they hard to change out / I ck'd the parts list diagram and it doesn't look to complicated on the picture. Can rubber hose be used instead of the clear plastic ones ?
I sure could use the feedback to my questions
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Ray,

I replaced the oil injection hoses on my 90 HP with the new clear ones as a precaution. The new ones are very pliable and soft. The original Yamaha blue painted ones seemed OK but a bit stiff. I have heard of cracked hoses on others type engines. If they crack while running the engine could be turned into toast.. Did you buy this engine new? Your hoses may have been replaced I do not think they should be hard or stiff. I would only use the Yamaha hoses. My 90 is 1989. I suspect the hoses would be the same type but different lenghts.

The oil injection needed to be bleed after the hoses were replaced. I am sure your 150 is a different process.

OK Thanks. Now my next question is how do you bleed the oil sys. Are there any instructions that I can follow ?
