Motor starts in gear

I recently discovered that my 2006 50hp tiller can start while still in gear. Hopefully it's only a loose connection or a failed switch. Any ideas where to begin?

Where is this switch located?

I do plan on buying a manual, but for now I would like to remedy this problem ASAP.

Probably just out of adjustment...

It's probably just out of adjustment. Its a mechanical cable / plunger block out system. My motor doesn't have that system. I checked all over and can't find any switch. ??????
