Oil Guage issue

I have a 1996 150hp motor. THe other day while running I noticed the little triangle light up about the oil icon on the gauges. I pulled back and limped in. The motor reservoir was a little low, and the 2.5 gallon tank had plenty of oil in it. Got the boat home, and filled the 2.5 tank up completely. It took less then 1 gal. Started the motor and the triangle is still above the icon. It is NOT flashing. THe owners manuals indicates that it is low on oil. This can't be the issue since both reservoirs are full.

Any thoughts as to where I should start? Oil sending sensor?

try to remove the 2 oil level senders in the tanks and put them upside down to have the floats all the way up and try again.
