Please help! 40hp Carb linkage

Is there a certain way, or technique that is used to remove the throttle linkage rod that synch's the three carbs? This may sound like a silly quetion, but the connectors are plastic, and I just want to be sure so I don't break them trying to pry them off incorrectly. I am in the process of cleaning the carbs at the moment, so a quick response would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Pry straight off. should be no problem, I have done it many times
