  • 1000 HR on 4 strokes

Hello all. Looking at a boat with twin f150's with 1000 hrs on each. I'm new to the 4 strokes, so I'm not sure how long these motors are good for, I have heard up to 4k hrs, Was hopeing some of you yami guys could give me realistic expectations on longevity and what kind of maintance outside of the usual every season stuff I can expect on a motor with this many hours,And if anyone could pass along the scheduled MX chart for this motor.

    Thanks,

Yes many hours are not a problem for those motors. You can go to Yamaha's web site www.yamaha-motor.com and view owners manual which has the maintenance chart. On end of chart it will list what it needs at 1000 hours.

1000 hours with a yamaha f150 is nothing if well maintained .you have a lots of hours to go.
i own 3 of them used and abused on boat rentals, they run like new, still the same starter, all electronic, ignition...everything is original except impellar, plugs, engine zincs, oil and filters
i would replace the timing belt for safety and do a big service.

          costs involved

          hey,

I have a F115 approaching 1000hrs as well. What is cost involved in the timing belt and/or other "big service" (hours by mechanic, typical cost and/or cost of parts involved)?

          thanks

I am 1,100 hours on my four stroke 225's and (knock on wood) running PERFECTLY. I am of the view higher hours on a well maintained motor is much better than low hours on a motor that is used infrequently.
