9.9 High Thrust Engine 4 stroke......

I had my carb rebuilt.......Put it back on......Now when I start the engine it smokes really bad for a minute or so........If I give it throttle I'll get a bit of smoke again.........What could be causing the smoke...........I originally had the carb. rebuilt because I was getting gas in my oil and was told the float in the carb was probably sticking could have it been more than the carb all alon.........The engine runs and sounds perfect but smokes ........

Gas in the oil

I have a 1997 Yamaha 9.9 high thrust too! I had the same problem with gas i the oil, not just a little bit but a bunch of gas that it raised the level of the oil on the dip stick. I told my dealer about the problem, he told me yamaha made a new fuel pump kit to fix my problem. See if you can the part number from your delaer. If not I'll get a part number for the kit when I get to my boat this weekend.
