2003 90hp 4-stroke power trim problem/question

I have a 2003 90hp 4-stroke that is a great motor!

last weekend when I trimmed the motor all the way down, i noticed on the digital gauge that it had approx 1/2 of the bars left on the gauge. normally it would go all the way down with only 1 bar left at the bottom of the gauge.

the motor at it lowest current trim point is almost perfectly level.

it used to trim down quite a bit farther, to the point the shaft was angling toward the transom of the boat.

I don't recall anything happening. the bow of the boat really wants to rise up at this lowest trim level when I try to take off.

what do I look for?

Look for loose bolts or something broke on trim unit that might be restricting movement.

Or something stuck between motor and boat that is not suppose to be there. Just look to see what it rests against when it is down as far as it will go.

there does not appear to be anything restricting the motors movement, as I can see that the metal on the motor is touching the metal on the support mounted to the transom.

I was not sure if these two points were touching at first, but I put a piece of plastic up against the spot where the motor rests when trimmed down all the way. when i trimmed the motor down it was hitting this pc of plastic.


Is there something else that could be wrong?

I am just not getting that last bit of "tuck under" that I think I was getting.

there's an adjustable trim bar on the bottom of the bracket that has about 5 different settings. have you or anyone moved that bar or could you check it and move it to another, lower setting. You just slide it out of one hole and into another..no tools required. Good Luck!
