hours of use question

as some of you may have read in my earlier posts my boats get ran hard and often, however i have a customer with a 2400 pathfinder and 225 fourstroke. he is in the navy and only get to use the boat 3 weeks out of a year. so my question is this . how many hours would be consideres normal for a south floeida boat?

The motors will go for thousands of hours but not being used is harder on them than using them.

The motors will go for thousands of hours but not being used is harder on them than using them.

I hear this a lot. What is the logic that says the more you use the motor the longer it will last.
