How much does shift shaft replacement cost?

I have an 89 Yamaha 200 and would like to get my shift shaft replaced for two reasons. One, I have never had it done and it has been a salt water boat and two, I developed a shifting problem yesterday and don't have reverse anymore.

Any idea on how many hours are involved in this job by a yamaha mechanic and approx cost range for the repairs to be completed?

I am confident I can do this repair but don't have time or place to work on the boat. I live in a condo right now.

4 hours or more depending on how bad the corrosion is. Best to get estimate from your local dealers.
