99 250 yamaha

can some one give me a little info i just bought a 99 250 yamaha runs great i dont have the tach diagrahms when i first put it in the water for a test run it was spitting water very poorly but it wasnt over heating so i used a liitle wire in the pisser hole and still didnt help so i left for a couple of days cause i was stumped and when i went to go start it to pull it was spitting water fine so not sure what to think dont know if i should take it for a test run or not . thanks for any help.

If you do not know any history of the motor being serviced in the past I would change the water pump and thermostats and check or replace the pop-it valves at least then you would know that these are good.
