I currently have a 2001 225, i am thinking of upgrading to a 2004 225 HPDI. Will my current controls and gauges work or will I have to upgrade them as well?

yes they will work however make sure your fuel system is in order, hpdi;s are great motors as long as your fuel system is up to par.

what do you mean by fuel system being in order?

It needs a 10 micron fuel/water separator fuel filter. Check that the fuel is good, fuel lines are in good shape(Ethanol can deteriorate fuel lines).
