removing gears

what do I have to do to get the gears out of the lower unit?.
1987 70 hp yamaha

It will require some special tools and a service manual. Remove bearing carrier by removing cover nut(requires special tool) and pull carrier with a puller then you can remove shift shaft, prop shaft and drive shaft.
