Sand on propellor grease?

When I turn my propeller by hand I can hear a slight grind of sand. I took my propeller off an noticed that the grease was slightly contaminated with some sand but was in a lazy mood so I just put everything back the way it was. Should I wipe everthing off and put some new grease or is it designed tough enough to handle this?

sand can't be good..how much trouble can it be to just clean it all off and re-grease it?
