1999 VMAX 200 Issue

I have a 1999 Yamaha 200 VMAX carb model. The motor performs great from idle to WOT. However when I go from low RPM's to WOT quickly there is a hesitation before the power kicks in. It's like a delay, there's no stumbling rough running coughing or sneezing with the motor just a slight delay in power. I'm not talking about a 1 or 2 second delay, it's maybe .25 - .5 of a second delay, just enough to notice it. Do you think it's a carb sync or timing issue or something else.
