  • yamaha 225 excel seized

I recently purchased a boat with 1989 yamaha 225 excel. On my way home the motor stalled a few times and eventually would not start.I brought it to a certified yamaha service center and they said water got into motor probably through the fuel or oil. They told me I needed a new power head.I went there the next day and talked to the shop owner and he said they were able to free up the bound piston. They said they would clean up the cylenders and lube it up and I should be all set. They charged me $1300 for the repair (10 hours labor and new head gaskets).About 5 hours into my trip home the motor died and the motor was seized.I called the shop that did the work and they told me that they were not responsible and that they did me a favor to get the motor running and that I should bring the boat back to the person I bought it from. Now I am stuck with a boat with a seized motor and the previous owner is blaming the repair shop and the repair shop is blaming the seller of the boat.I was wondering who is liable for the damages if anyone or am I stuck with the problem.I feel I paid a certified yamaha mechanic to fix the problem they should stand behind there $1300 worth of work.

HI, I think that the Yamaha repair person should be somewhat responsible, $1,300 is a lot of responsibility. give Yamaha coustomer service a call, and see what they have to say, they are very helpfull. 1-866-894 1626.
    Good Luck, Dennis
