703 control box warning beep?

Hi,
I have installed a brand new 703 with harness, hooked up to my newly rebuilt (and new to me) 98 200hp SW Series II. When I turn the key, it doesn't give a self-check beep. Is this normal? Is it a function of the motor, or the 703?
I have run Yamaha 4 strokes before, and they all did the self-check beep before starting...
Any help would be appreciated.

No it will not beep, the only ones that do are dual or triple engine switch panels.
