  • Electrical Probs - The usual suspect!

    Hi,

I have 2 Yamaha's a 150 and 40hp Enduro that is only a few years old (enduro is the basic model with strengthened internals, 2 cylinders and basic electrical system) It's always been a great runner but today I went out and the trim doesn't work neither does the ignition - The 3 coils where the wiring runs off from make a clicking/vibrating noise, giving me about the only clue into why it's not running right, also when I manually adjusted the tilt screw to lower the motor into the water and then pull started it the engine wasn't running smoothly - It's running on all cyclinders but sounds like one is intermittently cutting out, also after some time the problem will fix itself and operate as normal... any ideas on what part would be causing the problem? I'm so far away from an authorised mechanic!

    Thanks,

    Kurt

BRILLIANT! you fixed it. It was the negative terminal on the battery! there's still a lingering problem though, it only runs at half throttle/revs, but will occassionally kick in to full power.

      Thanks for the help!

      +1 karma to you sir.
