  • 1995 yamaha 200 hp carberated bogging

motor started fine and idled fine. Once out on water boat ran fine right up to point where it came on plane then rpm dropped drastically or bogged down. tried it 6 or 7 times same results. I thought maybe water in fuel separator since boat angle seemed to be issue. replaced separator and put star tron in tank. let idle for 20 mins ran fine but could not test again because of tide gate closing and time issues. going down to test it today if issue not resolved any suggestions?

Most of the time it's dirty carbs, fuel restriction or fuel pump.

Rookie, Sounds as if you have a fuel delivery pressure problem. Meaning if it runs at low speeds fine and then it begins to starve for fuel and bog as the demand increases I would suspect a clogged filter. If it runs at low speed and then bogs upon demand you need to start at the engine and work your way back. There is a filter/bowl and screen near the engine. Take that apart and clean the bowl and screen. Then go to the gas tank supply line filter. Replace the canister and make sure the gas is coming to the fuel filter and feeding the engine by priming the gas line bulb. If that does not get you running you need to check the fuel pump on the engine. they rarely go bad on the Yamaha's so I think you find it to be a clogged filter or a bad primer bulb on the fuel line. Let us know how you make out.Keep tht damn Granitski away from my boat...

I replaced the motor fuel filter and the fuel /water separator filter......Same problem. I replaced both fuel pumps.....Same problem. I replaced the Thermostats ("cause I had them")....Same Problem. I'm Having it sea tested and compression tested this week. Think I might need a carburetor (3) rebuild. Wish Me Luck!

Could be a loose nut behind the wheel...
