2000 9.9 yamaha remote conversion help

PLEASE HELP. I have a year 2000 (MANUFACTURED jUNE 2000) 9.9. yAMAHA, MODEL T9.9ELHZ. I bought a 703 remote control unit, labeled "PUSH" and with a SEVEN PIN cable. WHat parts or kits will hook it all up? And where is the SEVEn pin cable located on the motor??? I hope what I have so far will all work together. Where can I find a diagram on how to hook it all up??? Thanks much. bob

You will need a pull to open control box either use 703-48230-12-00 control box or convert your box by changing throttle arm to pull to open, part number 703-48261-11-00. It's not an easy task to change it out.

Thanks for the help Boats.net. This is for a sailboat, so do I need the steering hook and steering arm if the Yamaha is "fixed position" and I use the sailboat rudder for steering? (something available to "lock" the motor into position?) Also, what are the bolts and washers for? I assume the 7-pin wiring harness plugs into (or wires into) the motor somewhere (does it come with instructions)? Thanks again. bob
