New Digital Temp Gauge Flashing

JUst had new 90hp installed with all standard digital gauges and found the temp gauge (tach, oil, temp and trim in one gauge) is flashing as soon as the key is turned on (still flashes with or without motor running?) I searched through older posts and found info on "Dip Switch" settings may need changing/setting. Does anyone know how I can try to set these gauges etc or even check to see if this all the prob is.
I am a long way from dealer so hoping to save a trip..

You didn't say what 90 you have. Remove gauge and set switches in back of tach to.
90 two stroke 2000 and older set all three switches in down position.
90 two stroke 2001 and newer set switch 1 up, switch 2 and 3 down.
90 four stroke set switch 1 up, switch 2 down and switch 3 up.
