  • Trim Indicator Senders

My 115's trim indicators are not functioning. Is their a cleaning or maintance that can be done to the senders? I looked at them and found them stiff and had some salt build-up.

You can spray penetrating oil on them to try and free them up but other than that you have to replace them.

      speeder,
      - you still working on those 115s? Dang, you spend more time on your motors than I do!
I have never even looked at my trim gauge sender - I assume it is nothing more than a reostat (variable resistor) mounted in a housing with a lever that is spring loaded. I would trim the motor all the way up and lock it in place with the locking lever (don't ever get under a trimmed up motor without doing this). The arm or lever of the housing should move freely by hand. If not, I would try WD-40. If that fails, I would try to disassemble the housing. If that fails, reach down deep into your pockets, and buy new senders.
      Good luck,

CORROSION BLOCK TO THE RESQUE AND ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF MOVEMENT PER SENDER. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE THE INDICATORS WORKING. TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY TO BE BOATING.
