i have a 2000 yamaha on a small pathfinder flats boat. i use the boat at around 5000 ft above sea level which was certainly not expected for this boat since its a flats boat designed for inshore saltwater use.
so the engine was equipped with a 9 7/8 X 10 1/2 F (i hope i got that right). i understand that some folks alter the size of the prop to adjust for elevation to ensure the engine runs at the appropriate rpm. so my question is: is this the right size for 5000 feet, or should i use a smaller overall prop? the one on it now is probably ready for a replacement and i want to be sure i am maximizing effciency and horsepower.
my thanks in advance for any help on this one.....
