Yamaha Tach & Speedo wiring harness

I was wondering if the Yamaha Tach & Speedo combo, part number 6YR-W0035-F0-00 comes with a shorter wiring harness? It is listed that it comes with a 26 foot wiring harness, I will not need that much wiring harness. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Yes it does come with gauge harness that goes between Ign. switch and gauges.

If that's the case, why is the wiring harness 26ft long. It appears that it has to start from the engine where the connectors are then runs to the guages. Does this make any sense? Thanks
