  • Tilt Outboard When Birthed?

I keep my boat birthed on a fresh-water lake, and use it about once per week. I'm able to power tilt my Yamaha 50 TLR clear of the water when birthed. My thought is, it's better to "store" the entire unit tilted high-and-dry than in the water (keeping any growth or fouling of the paint to a minimum).

Am I doing the right thing, or is there any disadvantage to having the motor tilted clear of the water when birthed? Thank you.

Yes, high and dry is what I recommend.

      I do the same.But......

I Raise it up, flip over the lock and let it back down to relieve stress off of the hydraulics.
