Break in 25 hp 2 stroke?

Do u really have to run it 3 hours before u can get on it? I know guys that build race motors and they pound on them from the get go. With today's tech. that u would not need that much time to seat everything. Is the manual being a little to conservative?

I recommend following the breakin as Yamaha states in owners manual.
