I'm hooking up a teleflex trim gauge to my '87 ProV 150. The teleflex instruction manual says to hook to the pink wire on the harness for the sender and then the black on the harness to ground for pre-01 Yamaha's. A little further, it then states that the gauge SHOULDN'T be hooked to pre-01 trim senders due to potential damage that could be done because pre-01 senders run on lower voltage. Which is it? Can I hook it up or can't I? Furthermore, will newer Yamaha trim gauges work with an older Yamaha motor like I've got?
