  • Yamaha 2001 F115 oil leak

Have noticed for a second time Port engine leaking oil. Pulled cover and it appeared to be coming from under the flywheel area because the oil is that far up the engine. Is there a reason this would happen once and I clean and refill and not happen again for 5 more offshore trips out.. Is the seal hard to replace under flywheel? Thanks. Greg

Possible from crankcase vent, not sure.

      oil leak

It could be the crankshaft seal. It is a relatively easy repair. I have had it leak under load and not happen again for a while and I have had it get progressively worse. Pull the top cover, clean up the old oil, run the boat hard and see if it leaks.
