  • Tilt/Trim trouble

The trim motor on my 2000 40hp yamaha went bad, had alot of rust/corrosion on the motor and only got a click when hitting the switch.

Got a new trim motor and swapped it out. Now when I hit the trim switch I can hear the trim motor running but the engine will not lift up. I tried adding some fluid to the side fill, didn't seem low though and it did not help.

Do I need to somehow bleed the hydraulics, or is there somthing else I need to check.

    Thanks

It will need air bleed out of system. loosen manual release screw and raise motor up by hand, fill with fliud. Let motor down all the way and then raise back up and refill fluid, repeat about 3 times. Tighten manual release screw and try to trim with switch.
