  • Tilt and Trim Manual Release Valve

I tore into my 1986 V6 Special to replace the shift rod and while I was at it I figured that I would attend to a few other problems. My tilt slowly leaks down and my manual release valve is stuck so I decided to try to rebuild the unit. The valve was stuck when I bought the boat and as you can see the screw is a little buggered up. I tried a little heat and force on it now that I had better access but it is still not moving. I'd replace the whole valve but I don't know how it comes out. There is an internal retaining ring (removed in picture) that goes in the bore but I don't know if that is just a failsafe in case you unsrcrew too much or what. The Seloc manual that I have isn't very clear. What's the best way to remove this even if I need to do some drilling?

Remove the snap ring and it unscrews all the way out, heat is about the only option you have to remove it.

Is it a left hand thread? Seloc mentions that on some models.

No it's not left hand thread, it unscrews in direction of the arrow above it.
