I have a 1985 Yamaha outboard (model# 40ELTK) and I have damage on one of the cyclinder sleeves. I am looking to bore out the 2 good sleeves, replace the one bad sleeve, and install oversized pistons. I was told that the resleeving process requires the sleeve to be machined out and costs about $150. I have also seen that the block can be heated up in an oven and the sleeve can be pressed out by hand and the new sleeve inserted. Any advice on the best way to go with this?
