  • How to connect a tach and trim gauge 2006 F50TLR

    I have a 2006 F50TLR that has a 6Y5-83540-14-00 tach.
I want to remove the original tach and install the 6y5-83540-20-00 tach with the oil and temperature lights. I also want to install a 6Y5-83670-12-00 trim gauge. What harness(s) do I need to properly connect these gauges. The boat has a 704 remote control. Any help would be appreciated.

You would need to order trim/oil harness from engine to gauge, part number 6Y5-83653-10-00.

      Thanks for the reply.

I just received the 6Y5-83653-10-00 harness. It has a plug on each end. One end goes to the engine and the other goes to the gauge. I have not received my trim gauge so I do not know what type of connection it has. I thought the harness would have connections for the tach and the trim gauge. Does the gauge end of the 6Y5-83653-10-00 harness connect to the tach? If so, how does the trim gauge connect?

The pink wire on trim gauge connects to pink wire on tach.

          I am still confused.
          - The tach has male plug with a green and a red wire.
          - The trim gauge has a female plug with a pink wire and a black wire.
          - The gauge end of harness 6y5-83653-10-00 has only one plug which I am connecting to the tach. The green w/red connecting with the red on the tach and the green connecting with the green on the tach.
          - Do I just cut the pink wire from trim gauge plug and from the harness plug and connect them together?
-Where does the gray wire at the gauge end of the harness connect to?

A little more help would be appreciated.

I don't a gauge to look at, If there is no pink wire with bullet connector coming out of 4 prong connector on tach then cut the pink wire from connector of harness going to engine and put a bullet connector on pink wire to fit pink wire on trim gauge.
