1993 C40 mid-section conv.

I have a 1993 C40 ELRQ (long shaft). I would like to convert it to a short shaft using a 1990 40ESD 15" mid-section. Are these parts compatable with each other? I know I will have to change the shift shaft and the drive shaft to work with the shorter mid-section. Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks, Frank

Never tried it but I think they are totally different.

Did Yamaha ever make a short shaft mid-section from any model or year that would be able to convert with a C40 power head and lower unit on the 1993 model? I am trying to make this reliable motor work on a jon boat with a short transom. Thanks.

Yes they had a C40MSHR.

If anyone has an C40 in the mid 1990's that is being used for parts, I am looking for a 15" mid-section that will work with my motor(1993) which has a 20" mid-section. I will buy the mid-section outright or trade with mine. I am open to suggestions. Thanks.
