  • 50tlrd idle

Ok finally got my 2005 50tlrd bolted on and hooked up and i have a couple of issues. first is the motor shakes more than it should at idle and the tach reads 1000 rpm. I believe it should be around 800 is that correct and if so how difficult is it to adjust the idle? should i have a mechanic do it or can i adjust it myself without screwing anything else up? Second issue is when hooked up to rabbit ears and i put in in gear it grinds alittle. I am hoping that i did not mess anything up when installing the controls. I was adjusting the throttle friction and moving the shifter with the engine off. now i am told that doing so can damage parts if the gears where not lined up. i did not know this. As you can tell this is my first outboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Check cable adjustments, make sure shift cable end is in neutral and make throttle linkage is at idle position.
