analog tach conversion

i have a 1999 salt water series 150hp outboard (sx150x) with the malfunction, oops, i mean multifunction digital tach and i was curious if the
6Y5-83540-20 analog tach would work since it has the oil and heat warning lights? also, what pole setting do i set it to? 4p, 6p or 12p?
